RESIDENTS across Denbighshire and Conwy are being urged to be "wary" following a spate of cold calling and rogue trader offences.
Officers at North Wales police are investigating a number of burglaries across both counties.
Detective Sergeant Christopher Williams said: “Over recent weeks there has been an increase in burglaries in the Abergele and Bodelwyddan areas where premises within quiet housing estates have been targeted whilst the elderly occupants were away from the address.
"We believe that opportunist rogue traders are responsible and are strongly advising residents, particularly the elderly, not to accept any requests from cold callers and to report any activity of this nature to North Wales Police or Trading Standards.
"All members of society need to be vigilant and people need to be advised not to accept requests from cold callers to complete work."
Anyone with doubts is asked to telephone police on 101.
