The day after being released from prison a Conwy man broke into a neighbour’s house.
It was the third time Nicholas Lee Evans had broken into the home of 70-year-old Barry Hewitt, and in a victim impact statement read at Llandudno magistrates’ court Mr Hewitt said he felt “absolutely devastated and violated”.
“I don’t feel safe in my own home,” he said.
Evans, aged 30, was released from prison on June 8 and the following day was seen climbing through a window of the house in Crown Lane, before leaving with a holdall.
Evans, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to burglary, breaching a restraining order imposed in November, 2017, preventing him from approaching the property, and possessing heroin.
Graham Parry told the court his client had met a friend after returning to Conwy and had been drinking heavily when he committed the offences.
Evans remanded in custody to appear for sentence at Caernarfon Crown Court on July 6.
