MORE than 150 students, staff, parents and business representatives attended Coleg Llandrillo’s achievers’ awards ceremony at Venue Cymru in Llandudno.
The glitzy event celebrated the academic achievements of more than 20 of the college’s high-flyers from its four campuses: Rhos-on-Sea, Rhyl, Abergele and Denbigh.
The successful students, chosen from thousands of potential candidates across all programme areas, each received an engraved glass trophy and a cheque for £100.
Coleg Llandrillo’s overall student of the year award, together with a cheque for £200, was presented to 19-year-old Michael Parry.
Michael already holds an impressive array of awards for football, tennis, basketball and community sports leaders’ awards.
He is a qualified football referee and he has represented his country at international level.
Michael has achieved a full scholarship to study and develop his athletic ability in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in August.
Coleg Llandrillo’s performing arts students entertained the crowd with a spectacular show, including songs from Stephen Sondheim’s hit musical Into the Woods.
Business sponsors of the annual awards ceremony included Pioneer publishers Newsquest, RSM, the North Wales Business Club, George Cameron, View Creative, RWE Innogy UK and SP Hospitality Services.
