A LLANDUDNO Junction family is hosting a night of live music and entertainment to say thank you to the hospital that saved their dad.

Bob Davies, aged 65, underwent lifesaving heart bypass surgery at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital in 2017 and thanks to the quality of care and treatment he received made a full recovery.

As a result, Bob’s son Ryan, aged 34, decided to show the family’s gratitude by arranging for his covers band, The Magpies, to perform in support of the Hospital’s Charity.

Called: Magpies Rock the Maelgwyn, the night promises to be a fun-filled sing along and celebration of popular anthems from the 60s through to the 2010s, and takes place on Saturday July 14 from 7.30pm at the Maelgwyn Pub, Llandudno Junction.

Ryan, who works for Ysgol Aberconwy, said: “Since we agreed to put on the event, we’ve had a huge amount of support from street magicians offering to perform, to local businesses donating fantastic auction prizes.

“It promises to be a great night with pub games, quizzes, competitions and quality music to suit all tastes, and we’d love to see the pub packed out.”

Bob’s wife Margaret added: “The most important thing for our family is to say a massive thank you to all the hospital staff, from his surgeon Miss Harrington, to the nurses on the ward and the therapists, support workers, catering staff, everyone who cared for Bob so well.

“There were times when we didn’t know whether he would pull through and even in those difficult moments, the staff always spoke to us honestly, and treated us with genuine compassion. They were truly amazing.

“Raising money for the hospital’s charity is the least we could do to show our gratitude for everything they did.”

Admission to Magpies Rock the Maelgwyn is free, but there will be prize auctions, raffles, pub games with donations to play.
