Jim Goodwin, chairman of Wales in Bloom visited several locations throughout the area and met a number of volunteers en route.

After his tour, Mr Goodwin congratulated the Colwyn in Bloom committee and all the volunteers on their hard work, and stated the results of the competition would be announced at the awards ceremony due to take place in Colwyn Bay in September.

Ingrid Lewis, chairman of the committee said: “Mr Goodwin was presented with a portfolio of activities which had taken place throughout the year.

He was particularly impressed with the wider community involvement plus the growing number of private sector hanging baskets within the area.

Committee members, the public sector and the wider community have worked hard to try to retain the Best Large Town in Wales title. We are all keeping our green fingers very firmly crossed.”
