Another classic rip roaring sing-along will be brought back to the big screen in Colwyn Bay next month.

This September, Theatr Colwyn’s Demnetia Friendly Film Screening will showcase the technicolour 1950s spectacular Calamity jane

Set in the infamous Deadwood City, this musical stars screen icon Doris Day and Howard Keel in a story the sharp-shooter Calamity Jane who finds a rival in love for the man she wants to marry when a pretty young singer comes to town.

The film has become as well known for its incredible score as its unique take on the classic Western yarn, with the Sammy Fain and Paul Francis Webster score so impactful upon release it won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for the beautiful "Secret Love"as well as Scoring of a Musical Picture and Best Sound,

This version of the film has the words to all the songs on the screen, so audience members can be transported right into the saloon with Jane and join in to ‘Whip Crack Away’, ‘Deadwood Stage’ and "It's Harry I'm Planning to Marry"

Calamity Jane will saddle her horse at Theatr Colwyn on Thursday, September 6 at 2pm.

Tickets are £4.50, with free entry for carers and refreshments available at the interval.

This is a screening for people with dementia, memory loss and their family, friends and carers but is open to the general public. A friend, family member or carer must also attend.Any wheelchair users are invited to contact the venue ahead of time to reserve a space.
