LLANRWST Rural Show has appointed a local businessman as its president.

Iwan Thomas, aged 45, who runs a fertilizer and animal feeds business, said he is looking forward to the show on Saturday August 19.

He said: “I am truly honoured to be taking on this role at Llanrwst Rural Show this year, and look forward to welcoming people to the event.”

He added: “The people and locations within Conwy Valley are not only important to me, but also close to my heart, my family and my livelihood. Llanrwst Show is one of the marked annual activities in my life.”

Iwan established his business in 2007 from his family farm at Rhwng y Ddwyffordd, Betws-yn-Rhos, and now travels extensively throughout the agricultural community in North Wales.

A novel attraction to this year’s event is Patagonian singer, Alejandro Jones who visits the show with his family from South America. His family’s roots are in the Conwy Valley and his great grandfather and great uncle left Wales in search of a better life in the early 20th century.

The show gates open at 9am.
