A popular Llandudno Cafe could be set for a major revamp.

West Shore Beach Cafe revealed they have submitted an application to Conwy County Borough Council (CCBC) planning committee for a major overhaul of their beach front site.

The new plans would see an extension of the front and side of the cafe with the front itself predominantly glass allowing visitors to fully enjoy the views, new staff and toilet facilities downstairs along with a new, bigger kitchen and takeaway area.

The extensions would see the capacity at the cafe doubled - the new designs will be able to house 85 people inside and 56 outside (currently 42 and 36 respectively).

Owner Kevin Rice said he had wanted to revamp the cafe for a number of years and was excited to finally be able to put forward new plans.

Mr Rice said: "The response to our Facebook page has been fantastic, really positive and lots of people have been coming into the cafe and wishing us well which has been tremendous and very encouraging.

"I’ve wanted to improve the building for some years and it was following the completion of the works after the flood in December 2013 that I had some detailed talks with the council.

"It’s really over the last two years that the possibility has gathered momentum and I first talked to an architects in the middle of last year.

"The building really does need bringing up to date and the aim of the proposal is to provide a modern facility that we can all be proud of."

A consultation session was held earlier this month to show off the new plans in full to residents.

Mr Rice and the cafe put forward plans to CCBC at the end of last month and are now waiting to be given permission to move forward with the plans.

More than 170 people have commented on the cafe's Facebook post about the new plans saying how the extension plans look.
