Nominations have been submitted for the 2018 Conwy Sports awards and a shortlist of finalists for each category has been determined.

A total of 31 candidates have been shortlisted for awards from a variety of different sports.

The SP Energy Networks coach of the year award will be contested by Calum Stonach (weightlifting), Kevin Thomas (ruby union) and Robin Hughes (golf).

DJH Communications junior sportsman of the year candidates are Ewan Luke (sailing), Jack Halliday (karate) and Reuben Bather (golf).

The junior sports team of the year shortlisted finalists are Penrhyn Bay Girls under 12s (football), Colwyn Bay Rugby Club under 12s (rugby union) and Mochdre Cricket Club under 15s (cricket).

Bethan Roberts (weightlifting), Agatha Favill (skiing) and Lea-Anne Bramwell (golf) will fight it out for the Sional Promotional Merchandise junior sports woman of the year award.

The Conwy County Borough Council Education Service school of the year and Community Chest event of the year have already been decided, with just the one nomination for each category.

Trefriw Walking Festival taking out the event of the year award and Ysgol Y Creuddyn taking out the school of the year award.

There are two athletes shortlisted in the senior sportsman of the year category, Jo Cottrill (badminton) and Simon Cole (triathlon).

The senior sports team of the year award will be between Clwb Rygbi Nant Conwy (rugby union), Mochdre Cricket Club (cricket) and North Wales Knight Mares (wheelchair basketball).

S2 Recruitment senior sports woman of the year award will be hotly contested by Emily Whitlock (squash), Holly Knowles (weightlifting) and Victoria Cole (Aquathlon).

Gorsehill Caravan Park services to sport award has seen Chris Colman (cricket), Samantha Winnett & Louise Simpson (cycling) and Dewi Arfon Jones (rugby union) shortlisted.

The Desire Code special achievement award will either go to Jamie Cooper (mountain biking), Kimberley Williams (dressage) and Samuel Stewart Ball (cycling).

While the final category, the young volunteer of the year award, sponsored by Always Aim High Events, will be contested by Cerys Vick (multisports), Dylan Evans (surfing) and Laura Smith (multisports).

The winner of all of these awards will be announced at a special awards dinner at Venue Cymru on November 23, where Welsh Tarmac Rally Championship (WTC) driver Jade Paveley has been announced as the special guest speaker for the event.
