THE inquest has opened into the death of a man from Llandudno who fell down the stairs and then bled to death as he waited almost four hours for an ambulance

Senior Coroner for North Wales (East and Central), John Gittins, opened the inquest of James Lee Sullivan, 37, at Ruthin Town Hall, before adjourning it until a date in spring next year.

Mr Gittins confirmed Mr Sullivan, of Park Avenue, Llandudno, died on August 28 this year with a post mortem showing he had suffered major blood loss following a presumed fall down the stairs in his home.

Mr Gittins said phone records showed Mr Sullivan, a contract manager, had called an ambulance at around 3am to say he had fallen down the stairs, but that he would wait in bed for staff to arrive and let them in through the front door.

Ambulance staff had arrived at the address at 6.51am but could not get answer and broke the door down after seeing Mr Sullivan’s body lying on the floor at the bottom of the stairs through a window.

Mr Sullivan was later identified by his father.
