WORK as a team, that’s the secret of a 60 year long happy marriage.

Margaret and John Kelly, who live in Rhos-on-Sea, married on Saturday November 8, 195, almost exactly a year after first meeting at a youth club in Eccles, Manchester.

The couple moved to North Wales in 1975 and Margaret said: “We have been very happy here, we haven’t regretted moving to North Wales at all. The pace of life here is slower than in Manchester.

“The secret of our happiness is we work as a team and are very aware there is no ‘I’ in teamwork, either the letter or figuratively. We work well together and support each other in good and less good times.

“He proposed to me at my parent’s home, I was quite surprised.

Margaret added: “Initially we lived in Manchester where John worked as a process operative with Shell Chemicals, and I worked for British European Airways at its headquarters in the centre of Manchester,as a shorthand typist.

“We lived in Manchester initially and had two children. We now have seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren with two more expected next year.

“We moved to Rhos on Sea Colwyn Bay in 1975 and John started a gardening and building business. I worked as shorthand typist in doctors’ surgeries and elsewhere.

"We have moved four times in Rhos on Sea, but have been in our current home for more than 20 years. We have been very happy here, we haven’t regretted moving to North Wales at all.”

“We plan a quiet celebration and a lunch at Bodysgallen Hall.”

She added they are both avid readers and keen gardners and enjoy travelling.
