ZOO animals enjoyed a Halloween treat after pumpkins with carved faces arrived in enclosures.

Lemurs snacked on the fine bit of fruit at the Welsh Mountain Zoo in Colwyn Bay whilst Meerkats enjoyed climbing over the top and inside the pumpkins.

The seasonal decorations gave the animals a new way to keep active.

Marcia Moreira, marketing and sales manager at the National Zoological Society of Wales, said: "The Halloween celebrations went really well.

"Adults and children alike enjoyed the zoo during half term. Many activities took place such as talks, trails and pumpkin carving competitions, there was something exciting to do every day.

"Our animals also enjoyed the Halloween festivities.

"This is a great time of the year to provide our animals with extra special enrichment ideas that keeps our animal residents happy and entertained."

As part of shriek week, fiendish fun at the attraction ran until November 4. There was also swamp wallaby and reptile talks, trails and craft activities.
