EXACTLY 100 years after the Armistice to end the First World War, people in Beaumaris have participated in a number of poignant events.

A parade lined up outside the town hall at 9.45am, before being led to St Mary’s Church by the Beaumaris Silver Band.

A service of remembrance began at 10am, prior to an outdoor service, while the laying of the wreaths took place at 11am at the cenotaph.

This afternoon, poppies were laid on war graves in Beaumaris Cemetery.

Following that, a remembrance service at the old David Hughes School was scheduled for 3pm.

Tonight, a lighting of the beacon ceremony will begin at 7pm, before a celebratory peal of bells from St Mary’s Church.
