Audiences had their boogie shoes on as they danced in the isles on the opening night of Saturday Night Fever at Venue Cymru.

The sounds of the Bee Gees hit songs transported audience members back to the disco era of the 70s as they watched dancing fiend Tony Manero boogie his way into man hood in this coming of age tale.

For those that loved the movie you are going to love the musical as Richard Winsor takes on the role of Tony, made famous by John Travolta, channelling the same fire, flare and passion for dancing that Travolta showed in the 70s hit film.

Winsor took control of the stage with his dancing and had plenty of support from the likes of Kate Parr who played Stephanie Mangano; Raphael Pace (Bobbie C); Michael Cortez (Joey); Jared Thompson (Double-J); Owen Broughton (Gus) and Anna Campkin (Annette).

Winsor and Parr played off each other fantastically as the leads as their characters relationship and dancing developed in front of the audiences eyes on stage.

All dancers glided across the stage with professional elegance as even the big crowded numbers were performed with pin point precision, down to the last move.

The dances were carried out to the classic hits of the Bee Gees who were played by Edward Handoll (Barry Gibb), Alastair Hill (Maurice) and Matt Faull (Robin).

The trio were amazing, you could have sworn the actual Bee Gees on the Venue Cymru stage performing. They played all the hits from Night Fever and Stayin' Alive to Tragedy and You Should Be Dancing.

It wasn't just the disco dancing and songs that made their way onto the Venue Cymru stage, but the colour and style of the 70s fashion. Winsor even donned the famous white suit made famous in the movie.

It would be a tragedy for you to miss this 70s masterpiece at Venue Cymru.
