MAURICE Ravel's exhilarating one-act bedroom farce will burst into Colwyn Bay with unforgettable melodies and dazzling dance next month.

The award winning Mid Wales Opera touring company will present L’heure Espagnole in Theatr Colwyn on Wednesday December 5.

First performed in Paris in 1911, L’heure Espagnole is set in a clock shop in Toledo, central Spain.

It follows the fortunes of Torquemada, the hardworking clockmaker, as, during the course of one hot afternoon, his young wife Concepción negotiates her way through her collection of ridiculous lovers set to glorious habanera dances to the tune of the masterful Ravel’s magnificent score.

Featuring an outstanding cast of five young singers as well as four brilliant musicians, performing a new English translation by artistic director Richard Studer and a new arrangement of Ravel’s exotic score created by music director Jonathan Lyness, this is a must see take on the criminally under-appreciated classic.

Founded in 1989, the Newton based performers have come a long way since their first sets were transported in a tractor trailer for performance in Meifod Community Centre, and now tour the country with an average cast and orchestra of 25 to earn wo Prudential Opera Awards.

Join the players at Theatr Colwyn on on Wednesday December 5 at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £13, with concessions available, to book visit theatrcolwyn.co.uk or call the box office on 01492 577888.
