THE heavy winds and driving rain which have battered North Wales have caused damage across the region and presented hazardous road conditions.

One example of the destruction was the canopy outside an Old Colwyn fish shop which was completely demolished.

The Met Office had issued a warning stating very strong and disruptive winds" were expected, with gusts of up to 70mph (112km/hr) in some places around the country.

The North Wales Police had warned of very wet and windy conditions across some areas, in particular in Gwynedd and Anglesey and asked drivers to take care when and allow extra time for their journeys and drive according to the conditions.

A speed limit of 30 miles per hour was put in force on the Britannia Bridge across the Menai Strait, and Natural Resources Wales has issued flood alerts around the Welsh coast.
