Hundreds flocked to Colwyn Bay last Friday night to mark the beginning of the festive season.

The community came together for the Christmas light switch on last Friday which saw the streets come to life with decorations in readiness for the festive season.

Pantomime characters, Father Christmas and the Colwyn Bay mayor were a part of proceedings which saw wooden huts, a giant snow globe and reindeers set up on the streets of Colwyn Bay.

Mayor, councillor Stephen Williams, said: "It was a really good turn out and great to see the community rally together and celebrate.

"The wooden cabins looked good and it was really nice for local businesses to be able to trade and work together."

Having spent the night with the stars of the Theatr Colwyn pantomime he said it has been great to see kids faces light up when they saw the different characters.

Cllr Williams said the switch on had grown from last year and was looking forward to seeing it progress even further in the years to come.
