BODNANT Welsh Food Centre in the Conwy Valley has been acquired by a Llandudno businessman.

Richard Reynolds, owner of the Love to Eat restaurant in the Victoria Centre, has bought the assets of the food centre which had suffered financial difficulties.

Mr Reynolds said: “I am delighted to have bought the business and assets of Bodnant Welsh Food, and I will be working hard to ensure its future success.

“The centre is situated in spectacular surroundings and has so much potential, boasting a fantastic array of award-winning products and services which I hope to honour and enhance further.

"I hope to have the business up and running again as soon as possible, under the name Bodnant Welsh Food – and to continue promoting Welsh food in the Conwy Valley, for the benefit of the local community.”

Head of business recovery and insolvency at Smith Cooper, Dean Nelson, said: “Despite best efforts and considerable investment from the owners, the Bodnant Welsh Food Centre was operating in an unsustainable manner. We’re delighted to have secured the sale of the business and assets to Richard Reynolds and are confident we will see the food centre flourish again.”

It is believed the business owed significant sums of money to various organisations. Ms Simi Epstein, Ty Gobaith’s Director of fund raising and marketing said: “We have seen a document which lists us as a creditor for £1,113, however we have no outstanding invoices with the Welsh Food Centre. In the past they have been very supportive of our charity and we hope to establish a relationship with the new owners.”

News the sale has completed will be welcomed by couples who had planned weddings at the venue. The new owners say they will honour any weddings that have been booked.
