A business owners is determined not let a "pointless" vandal attack dampen his Christmas trade.

Mochdre business Julia Jones Ltd had its front windows smashed in during a vandal attack on Monday night.

While a total damage bill has not yet been calculated, the attack saw £5000 worth of damage done to the windows alone, but nothing was stolen.

The attack, which is believed to have been carried out with a hammer, forced the business to close on Tuesday but was re-opened the following day.

Ower Rob Jones, has had the business in Mochdre for 25 years - having taken it over from his mother Julia, and said he has never been the target of anything like this before.

But Mr Jones said he remained defiant and after the short closure on Tuesday was back open as usual.

He said: "It was just shear pointless vandalism.

"They didn't try and break in, they just broke the window - all it has done is cause hassle and gives us more to deal with.

"We have received some fantastic messages and emails from existing customers which has made me feel a little better."

The attack happened at around 9pm on Monday, December.

North Wales Police were called to reports of criminal damage and officers are currently investigating the incident.

Mr Jones said he has been called to the store for a number of false alarms in the past and was expecting this time to be no different.

But when he arrived on the night he knew this was no false alarm.

He said: "I have been called out for false alarms before and I turned up on the night expecting the same but when I saw all the broken glass I knew it wasn't.

"The policed were fantastic, they sent two crews out help."

With a major clean up on the Tuesday it is business as usual once again for Mr Jones and the Julia Jones store.

He said although the shutters are down for now, it was only to protect the damaged windows until they are repaired - which is set to be carried out by another business from the area Clifton Glass.

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to contact police using reference number W172408.
