AN ART gallery in Llandudno is getting into the festive spirit with a cracking Christmas window display.

Following a national call out to artists and makers, the art-nouveau style windows of the shop at MOSTYN gallery on Vaughan Street are now home to a giant Santa and elves in a 'Gifts for All' display created by Anglesey artist Gill Prendergast.

Gill is a designer and maker of 'faux taxidermy' and other curiosities, and is based in Llandegfan. Predominantly working in felt to create large, fun animal heads, Gill also creates limited edition pieces using Liberty Art fabrics.

Selected to create the final piece following an open submission, Gill said: "I feel delighted to have been chosen for this year's Christmas Window commission as Mostyn is a highly renowned gallery in Wales. "I am excited to showcase my design and add a colourful hit of festive happiness to the high street!" Each year MOSTYN invites proposals for design of the Christmas display, and previous winners have gone on to secure commissions at Liberty, London, Manchester City Gallery and the Craft Council. MOSTYN’s Retail Manager, Barry Morris, added: "We loved Gill's proposal for its eye-catching and super Christmassy appeal.

"The window commission allows us the opportunity to provide a platform for designers and makers to showcase their work, and to contribute to their development.

"We've previously sold Gill's creations to visitors from as far afield as China and so it’s wonderful that we can further support her in this way."
