Thousands of residents braced the cold and wintery conditions to attend the first ever Old Colwyn Christmas Markets.

More than 3000 market goers attended the event over the course of the weekend to see what was on offer.

Attendees were greeted with a variety of stalls with everything from food and drink to crafts and last minute Christmas present ideas.

Linda Roberts, Event Manager, said: “ We are very pleased with the turnout for the event, we had over 3000 people there over the weekend.

"The street was really busy and we had lots of food, drinks and craft stalls who all mostly sold all of there stock.”

The markets were a dream come true for the village, with resident Dawn Jones coming up with the idea at Christmas-time last year.

It didn't take long for the event to come together, with a small committee working hard since the start of the year to make it all possible.

Organisers said despite the weather it had been a huge success and they were already looking forward to the next event in 2019.

Kai Davies, operations manager, said: “ I am so happy with the event! It went exactly how we planned it.

"We are now looking forward to the future. Old Colwyn Christmas Market 2019 Coming Soon."

Event goers took to social media following the weekend to express just how fantastic the first ever Old Colwyn Christmas Markets were.

Audrey Edwards, on the Old Colwyn Christmas Market Facebook page, said: "Thank you all for arranging such an amazing event.

"We did loads of Christmas shopping in a lovely atmosphere and while chatting to so many people we had not seen for ages."

The event also coincided with the carol service in the St John’s Church, which brought to an end the successful weekend.
