More than £10,000 of damage has been done and an array of tools and equipment stolen from a building site in Rhos-on-Sea.

A site on Princess Drive in Rhos-on-Sea has been the target of vandals and thieves in recent weeks.

The site, which is being developed into two new builds by AW Jones Building Contractors, has been hit three times in two weeks in December.

The first attack saw some minor tools stolen as well as an electric screw gun, site lights and plastering tools.

A few days later the site was targeted again, this time in an act of what AW Jones owner Aled Jones said was "pure vandalism".

About 17 bags of plaster mix had been split open and spread across the site, down drains and forced into the engines of a mini-dump truck and mini-digger - writing off the later.

The write-off of the mini-digger was £7,500 while the damage done to the mini-dump truck was set to cost £1,000.

The third incident saw people break into a secure office by smashing a window, stealing everything of value including two breakers, more screw guns, a laser spirit level, a chainsaw and the workers' radio.

Whoever had broken in got into the new builds, going into the roofs causing damage to the ceilings and breaking off door handles - resulting in £1,000 worth of damage.

Mr Jones said: "I have been in this business for 39 years and have never seen anything this bad before.

"It is sickening, and especially in the run-up to Christmas. We were worried it might have been some kind of vendetta.

"We have had the police out and they have checked the site for fingerprints and we have also installed CCTV. But apart from that there is not much else we can do."

North Wales Police are urging anyone that may have seen someone acting suspicious in the vicinity of Princess Drive between 4.30pm on December 7 and 8am December 8.

Anyone with any information is urged to come forward and quoting referencing number W174533.
