BATTERED and deep fried Christmas lunch, original yes, traditional no.

The Fisherman’s chip shop in Conwy, inspired by Glasgow’s celebrated deep fried battered Mars Bars, has introduced an original Christmas dinner.

Owner Chris Nolan said: “After some experimentation I’ve refined the dish which is consists of golf ball sized portions of Christmas pudding dunked in batter and deep fried. I serve four of them in a dish with ice cream, which provides a perfect balance. I am well aware it sounds less than appetising, but in reality it is delicious. The proof of this particular pudding is in the number of people who have bought it.

“I’ve also introduced another special for the season: a sausage, wrapped in bacon, also battered and deep fried, served with chips and cranberry sauce. Both meals have proved so very popular.”
