A 33-year-old man who admitted having a knife in public at Old Colwyn in October 2017 paid the price when he was jailed for six months.
Nicholas Hornby, of no fixed address, used the camping knife to cut string at work but accepted he shouldn’t have possessed it in Ellis Avenue, magistrates at Llandudno heard.
The defendant said he was a self-harmer, too.
Defence solicitor Nia Dawson said he handed the knife to police and suggested the court could make a community order.
