A TALENTED vocalist at Rydal Penrhos school will perform for national television in China later this month.

Amy Yue, a Lower Sixth Form pupil at the school, has been selected to sing in the Spring Gala Festival which is part of the Chinese New Year celebrations.

The 17 year old boarding pupil’s performance will be televised nationally as part of the exceptional celebrations, which will officially bring in The Year of the Pig.

This is the latest in a series of impressive accolades for the pupil, who joined Rydal Penrhos in 2016.

She has contributed significantly to the various community and school concerts put on by director of music Pete Williams throughout the academic year, in addition to appearing on stage during the school’s recent Showstoppers extravaganza which attracted more than 1,000 audience members over three nights last spring.

Amy will also be playing part of one of the leading roles in the forthcoming Rydal Penrhos Dramatic Society performance of Les Misérables, where she will depicting Cosette.

Pete Williams, said: “This is an incredible honour for Amy and one that we are enormously proud of her.

“She has an incredible voice and to have the chance to show this off in front of what is expected to be a vast television audience is going to be another hugely positive step in her overall development.”

Chinese New Year is one of the world's most prominent and celebrated festivals.
