A MENAI Bridge and Rhos-on-Sea girls’ college football team drew five all with their Manchester United counterparts.
The Grŵp Llandrillo Menai Girls’ Football Academy team, which comprises the most talented footballers from Coleg Llandrillo and Coleg Menai, took on their high-flying adversaries in the Association of Colleges league, at Eccles Sixth Form College, the home of Manchester United Foundation Academy.
One of the students, Fflur Williams, 17 from Llangernyw, scored a hat trick. The Grwp Llnadrillo side was thoroughly delighted with the result, although it was slightly bittersweet, as their opponents equalised with the last kick of the game.
Fflur also plays for Llandudno Ladies FC and is studying sport performance and excellence at Coleg Llandrillo’s Rhos-on-Sea campus. She said: “It was an amazing to score a hat-trick against a Manchester United side. It was such a tight game, and with their last minute equalizer, we were disappointed not to win the match.”
Liverpool-supporting Fflur, has been interested in football since junior school, where she used to play against the boys!
The college’s next fixture isn’t any easier, as they are away to Liverpool FC Girls’ Academy.
