A 53-year-old woman who claimed she went on a £1,500 shoplifting spree to help pay for her father’s headstone was banned by a court on Monday from every Debenhams in England and Wales.
Marie Gallagher, who is unemployed, of Pinetop Close, Manchester, admitted stealing perfumes and other items at the retailer's Llandudno store on January 14.
Prosecutor James Neary at Llandudno court said she was going to sell the perfumes but was stopped with a hold-all when she left the store located on Units 1- 3 Llandudno Retail Park, Mostyn Broadway.
"It’s obviously a pre-planned expedition," said Mr Neary.
Deborah Davies, defending, said Gallagher had stayed out of trouble for 17 years and was ashamed of the theft.
A suspended jail term of 26-weeks was imposed by a district judge together with a twelve-month ban on entering Debenhams stores.
Gallagher was also told she must pay £200 in costs.
