A GROUP of kind hearted students from Coleg Llandrillo, Rhos-on-Sea, filled shoeboxes with gifts, which were distributed by a Bangor company to the elderly, vulnerable and lonely across North Wales.

The group included Elle Lloyd from Llanrwst, Catrin Fletcher from Betws-yn-Rhos, Linda Evans from Pensarn, Mared Smith from Rhyl, Brooke Kennedy from Rhos-on-Sea, Madison Browne from Llandudno.

Following a charity appeal, the Health and Social Care Level two students from the college’s Rhos-on-Sea campus donated a range of goods, filling 10 shoeboxes. Items included biscuits, chocolates, socks and gloves. The students also included a greetings card in each box, which they all signed.

They then dropped off the packages at care management company, Abercare in Bangor, which distributed them to those in greatest need.

Student Naomi Hughes from Penmaenmawr said: “It was lovely to do something nice for the elderly and vulnerable, who are maybe lonely too. We hope it brings smiles to their faces.”

Tutor Kate Farmer said: “It is great that the students wanted to give something back to the community, especially the people who are alone. Most of the students made multiple donations, which was especially pleasing.”
