MORE than 100 pupils are practicing through their lunch breaks to perfect their take on Guys and Dolls.

Ysgol John Bright students are busy rehearsing for this year's production of their 10th musical spectacular at Venue Cymru in March.

Following the huge success of School of Rock last year, the John Bright players have set their sights on the 1955 American musical film starring Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra.

Join gambler Nathan Detroit as he seeks to organise an unlicensed craps game despite some serious heat from the police, while fiancée Miss Adelaide wants him to jack it all in for a straight, married life.

His old gambling buddy Sky Masterson tries to win an impossible bet to take an anti-gambling advocate on a date to Cuba.

The cast ranges from year seven to 13, with practises taking place during lunch time and after school to get ready for the big night.

Starring in the lead role, year 12 Tomos Bohanna said: "Nathan Detroit is one sneaky fella!

"I feel that we have made so much progress within the show and I have made a lot of new friends through doing so.

"It has always been a dream of mine to be a part of a show at Venue Cymru, being given the opportunity at Ysgol John Bright to play the leading male is beyond incredible."

Join the flourishing talent for two nights at Venue Cymru on Thursday, March 14 and Friday 15 at 7pm.

Tickets start at £12, available from venuecymru.co.uk or by calling the box office on 01492 872000.
