With pantomime season at an end for another year Theatr Colwyn has released its figures for its 2018 show Dick Whittington.

The theatre has once again seen record numbers at the box office with more than 7000 tickets sold across 24 shows over Christmas.

Pantomime’s have been growing in popularity at Theatr Colwyn over the past few years and the 2018 Dick Whittington was no exception with almost every session sold out.

Libby Edwards from Magic Light Productions, who put on the pantomime at Theatr Colwyn, said they were thrilled at the popularity of the show and had already sold 500 tickets for the 2019 pantomime, Aladdin.

Ms Edwards said: “It is incredible. This is our eighth year with the pantomime at Theatr Colwyn and we have seen over 7000 people through the doors for at least the last three years, and year on year the figures juts keep increasing.

“It is always quite a shock to see so many people. It is wonderful that people come from far and wide to see the show, they choose us ahead of all the other pantomime’s that are on across the UK.

“We try and include as much variety as we can so everyone goes away feeling they got something out of it.”

Ms Edwards and Stuart Loughland have already begun planning the 2019 pantomime, Aladdin.

The pair said they liked to bring as much magic and their own gags to their pantomime’s as possible and this year would be no different.

Crowds can expect to see everything from a magic carpet and the Cave of Wonders to original music in this year’s pantomime as they get set to bring Agrabah to life on the Theatr Colwyn stage.
