More than 700 runners lined the Llandudno promenade on Sunday for the 27th annual Nick Beer 10km race.

Despite the breezy conditions organisers said some "excellent times" were achieved as Eryi Harriers pair Gwyn Owen and Catherine Connell took out the male and female races respectively.

Owen took out the men's category in a time of 34.40, followed in by Prestatyn RC's Stephen Skates (34.49) and Dark Peak FRC's Michael Corrales (35.51).

In the ladies race Connell took out first place in a time of 39.16 and was followed over the finish line by Macclesfield Harries' Alannah Birtwistle (42.04) and Eryri Harriers' Andrea Rowlands (42.32).

Eryri won both team prizes. First locals were Stephen Mills of GOGs in 42.17 and Rachel Shipley of Abergele Harriers in 43.24.

For the first time ever a 1k fun run was held before the main race along the promenade.

This attracted more than 40 participants with all proceeds going to St David’s Hospice.

St David’s Hospice Conwy Area Fundraiser, James Wilde, said: “The Nick Beer race has a fantastic history in Llandudno spanning more than a quarter of a century and we’re really happy to be involved in the first ever Nick Beer Fun Run."

The club said they were extremely grateful for all the volunteers who helped on the day and sponsors that also supported the event.
