CONWY’s inshore lifeboat has been replaced for six weeks for overhauling and refitting.
The current boat, the May-Bob, which arrived in Rhyl in March 2014 and has worked hard ever since, is need of maintenance beyond the scope of the routine work which can be undertaken at the lifeboat house on Conwy’s Quay.
Danny-Lee Davies, Conwy Lifeboat spokesman and lifeboat helmsman said: “Our volunteers take great pride in our equipment and strive to ensure all our lifesaving appliances, despite the harsh environment in which they work, are in the best state of operational readiness at all times. It should be back with us within six weeks.”
The May-Bob was been replaced by a boat of the same class, the Eileen Murphy, which has been brought from Fleetwood on the Fylde coast. She was involved in a lifesaving rescue only last Friday, while on similar relief duty at that station.
