Conwy and Himeji are drawing closer to signing of the twinning agreement, which will take place later this year.
As part of the town's links the Conwy Town Council are organising an introductory course in the Japanese language, starting on Tuesday, March 5.
The six week course in the Guildhall is open to residents of Conwy, Deganwy and Llandudno Junction, and to those with local businesses.
There will be a £2 charge for each session.
The tutor will be Emiko Corney of Betws-y-Coed.
