THE Mayor of Colwyn Bay’s charity film performance of the hit 2018 American musical romantic drama, A Star is Born, was a sell out success.

Held at the Theatre Colwyn this week attracted so much attention that the theatre was unable to accommodate everyone who wanted to attend.

Mayor of Colwyn Bay, cllr Steve Williams , said: “Last night was a huge success as we had a sell out crowd and people were being turned away. The film was amazing and it got a round of hugs and lots of applause when it finished. I managed to raise £1,247 on the night which is an incredible amount of money and I am so thankful for the support of everyone who attended.”

The proceeds will go to the Mayor’s nominated charities: Arc Communities, Colwyn Bay’s community centre; Pancreatic Cancer Awareness and the Conwy Arts Trust.

The film A Star Is Born premiered at the 75th Venice International Film Festival to critical acclaim and recognised as one of the top 10 films of 2018.

It tells the story of musician Jackson Maine who discovers, and falls in love with, struggling singer Ally. But as Ally's career takes off, the personal side of their relationship is breaking down, as Jackson fights a battle with his own internal demons.
