Lulu Covey would have celebrated her 30th birthday this year.

Tragically, she was killed in a car crash in 2016, and not a day goes by when her family doesn’t think about her.

Remarkably, they have raised £26,000 for good causes in her memory through Lulu Rocks - and this year it will return bigger and better to mark the special milestone.

Lulu’s mum, Glenys Marsh, started the event in 2016 with a goal of raising £30,000 before her daughter’s 30th birthday - and it looks as though that target will be smashed when it it returns to Salwayash this summer.

Lulu Rocks has announced that this year’s acts will include The Leggomen, Jack Humphries, Stevie and the Masquerades, Patrick Chiverton and The Guitarist on Wheels.

Guests can enjoy live music along with cocktails from the bar and food will also be served.

Previous events raised £7,000 in 2016, £11,700 in 2017 and £7,300 in 2018.

Just before Christmas, Glenys donated a cheque for £5,000 to Mountjoy School, Beaminster, which enabled the school to install outdoor football and table tennis tables for pupils to use.

Lulu Rocks has chosen to support Mountjoy, which caters for up to 80 pupils aged between two and 19 with a range of complex needs, again this year.

It has also selected Julia’s House, a children’s hospice which provides practical and emotional support for families caring for a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition.

But Lulu’s family, from Bridport, needs your help. To make the event a success, they need sponsors, donations and raffle prizes. If you can help, contact Glenys at gem.57@btinternet.com.

Lulu Rocks will take place at Salwayash village hall on Saturday, July 20.
