Run Wales are teaming up with a Llandudno based charity for this year's Conwy Half Marathon.

Well established event organisers Run Wales organise running events throughout the year, covering distances from 5k through to a 26.2 mile marathon and have recently launched their 2019 events calendar.

Its most popular event, the Conwy Half Marathon will be named after the adult hospice, St David's Hospice.

Run Wales Race Director, Chris Yorke said: “Run Wales are delighted to announce that St David’s Hospice will be our official charity partner. It is a local charity providing hospice care to adult patients across Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey. They deliver free, high-quality, specialist palliative care to patients with advanced illnesses, their family and carers.

“We would like to encourage our runners to support the charity, using our events as a fundraising platform. To mark this occasion, we have renamed our largest event ‘The St David’s Hospice Conwy Half marathon”

Last year’s half marathon saw a team of 26 hospice supporters take part in three different races and raising over £6000 for end of life care in North West Wales.

For 2019 the organisers have donated 20 places to the Hospice for supporters who would like to take part in the Three Castles Series and raise funds.

The half marathon series which includes the Snowdonia Half marathon on May 19, Bangor Half marathon on October 6 and Conwy Half marathon on 17th November.

Participants will receive the places for free, in return for a minimum sponsorship level of £150.

St David’s Hospice Conwy Area Fundraiser, James Wilde said: “Last year we had supporters of all abilities lace up their running shoes and put themselves to the test in support of the Hospice.

“The money raised has made a real difference to the care we offer patients and their families.

“To have St David’s Hospice’s name attached to such a fantastic event as the Conwy Half Marathon, which last year celebrated its 10th year is fantastic and we thank Run Wales for their continued support.

“This year we’re looking to have even more runners on board so whether you’re someone who’s run 100 miles or 100 metres this year, we want you to run for St David’s Hospice and we will support you every step of the way.”
