The Original Conwy Pirate Festival is set to return to Conwy again in 2019.

The popular event was last year saved at the last minute by the Conwy Chamber of Trade and put together in the space of three weeks.

So this year's event promises to be bigger and better with event organisers having a full year to prepare the weekend.

Kimberley Edmunds, who is part of the organising group, said: "We are planning lots of exciting activities and spectacles to wow the crowd including mermaids, a smugglers market, belly dancers, music, ship, sword fighting displays, cannon fire, fire performers, magic and comedy.

"And of course a vast array of pirates will be travelling from all over the UK, and further afield too from what we hear, to Conwy for the event.

"There will of course be lots of surprises too.

"This year there has been much more time to plan and we hope that people will continue to support us and enjoy what we present"

Toby Tunstall and the Chamber of Trade took control of the original pirate festival last year after the annual event usually held in the town was moved to Rhos-on-Sea.

Mr Tunstall was the original creator of the festival back in 2012 before HTC took it over a few years ago.

But now the group has created its own event once again and they said it is here to stay.

Residents and visitors have said just how much they enjoyed last year's event and that they are already looking forward to this year's pirate weekend.

Davy Sharkeye said: "After the pirates and the good folk of Conwy hurriedly united at very short notice to rescue last year’s festival from being scuppered, it was judged to have been an overwhelming success.

"This year there has been time to lay plans for a dynamic event that has built and improved on last year’s Festival.

"The Original Conwy Pirate Festival 2019 will literally blow ye out o the water."
