TWO Nicolas Cage performances for the price of one and a UK premiere are just some of what's on offer in Old Colwyn this month.

TAPE Community Music & Film will present five days of creative masterclasses for people in Conwy and Denbighshire over the age of 25 in The Creative Sparks Film Festival from Monday, March 18.

Starting as it means to go on, this free project will present the UK premiere of Milan Erceg's documentary 24 Hour Comic, which follows eight artists testing their skills by completing a 24 page comic in just 24 hours.

Budding creatives can galvanise the no doubt inspirational impetus fostered immediately after the film, with an unmissable opportunity to take part in a Q&A with the director.

The following day, a writing masterclass will screen the woefully under appreciated Charlie Kauffman film Adaptation.

Pairing off with the ever exceptional Meryl Streep, Nicolas Cage presents the full spectrum of his acting range by playing Kauffman and his fictional twin in a film that blurs the lines between writing and reality. A Q&A following the event is to be announced.

Moving on to the fledgling musicians, Wednesday will present Anorac, the cinematic document of Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens on his musical road trip across Wales.

A Q&A following the screening will welcome Welsh music legends and BBC Radio Cymru DJ Rhys Mywn.

Underlining TAPE's own incredible success in bringing burgeoning projects to the screen, Thursday will feature in house production British Winters as well as offering the ultimate motivation in the shape of a Q&A with writer and director Andrew Turner.featuring a presentation by Alex Thomas of Viva and a guest Q&A to be announced.

Steve Swindon, chief executive officer of TAPE said:"The Creative Sparks Film Festival is being run to give people a chance to come through our doors, watch a movie for free and find out what creative opportunities there are at TAPE.

"We’ll be looking at different creative activities every day linked to ongoing TAPE projects. We’re presenting some really inspiring work and are delighted to have the UK Premiere of 24 Hour Comic and a Q&A with the film’s director, Milan Erceg."

Each event runs from 1pm, is free to enter and takes place at TAPE Community Arts Centre on Berthes Road, Old Colwyn.
