WORK on the Tal-y-Cafn bridge in the Conwy Valley, is on track to be completed at the end of this month.
The bridge closed on Monday February 25 for essential maintenance work and is scheduled to re-open on Friday March 29 at 4.00pm.
Diversions of up to 12 miles long were put in place when the bridge closed. It is the only crossing over the River Conwy between Llanrwst and Conwy.
A spokesperson for Conwy County Borough Council said: “The repair work to Tal-y-Cafn bridge is continuing and is still due to be completed on Friday March 29, weather permitting.”
She explained the work includes: replacing waterproofing on the concrete deck; replacing joints; upgrading drainage; repairing concrete and resurfacing.
Access to the 200 year old Tal-y-Cafn pub, a former coaching inn turned bistro, will not be affected by the work, which is being carried out by M W T Civil Engineering.
