MORE than £1,100 was raised to bring a smile to disabled children’s faces in a sponsored cycle ride by a Colwyn Bay estate agency.

Two staff from Sterling Estate Agents raised the money by riding from Rhos on Sea to Rhyl and back, a total distance of 23.6 miles.

The money raised was presented to the Happy Faces Children’s Charity’s appeal for a fully fitted disability minibus for a local special needs school.

Nigel Crabtree, a director of Sterling who was one of the two riders, said: “We are absolutely delighted to help support this appeal and are working closely with them.

“We had loads of support from friends and family texting and supporting us on Facebook while we were riding and we are extremely happy with the money we raised as look forward to helping Happy Faces in the future.”

Colin James-Davies, the other rider, said: “It was extremely windy on the day, but the worst that happened was a chain snapped at the beginning of the ride and the bike had to be rapidly replaced. Otherwise everything was plain sailing apart from the fact both of us were subsequently very stiff and suffered muscle cramps.”
