A SNOW warning has been issued for the north Wales region on Sunday.

The Met Office has issued weather warnings for Wales over the next couple of days, saying sleet and snow is on its way to the north.

Disruption is anticipated as the "yellow warning" for snow is set to affect most of north Wales, except for Anglesey, between 3am and 11am on Sunday.

In the north, the MET office said: "an area of rain is likely to turn to snow over a central swathe of the UK early on Sunday.

"Highest snowfall accumulations will tend to be over hills and mountains where a few centimetres of snow are likely.

"Below 200 metres, only 1-2 cm or so of snow is likely. Meanwhile, it may be that places in the far south as well as the far north of the warning area see little or any snow."

There is another warning for wind gusting over all of north Wales on Wednesday, forecasted between 12.15am and 3pm.

A Met Office spokesman said: "An area of rain is likely to turn to snow over a central swathe of the UK early on Sunday. Highest snowfall accumulations will tend to be over hills and mountains where a few centimetres of snow are likely. Below 200 metres, only 1-2 cm or so of snow is likely. Meanwhile, it may be that places in the far south as well as the far north of the warning area see little or any snow."

The MET warns that some roads and railways are "likely to be affected" with longer journey times by road, bus and train services.
