Iron Man, Wally and a werewolf were among the literacy characters that came out to celebrate World Book Day in Conwy.

Pupils across the county dressed up as their favourite characters last Thursday to celebrate World Book Day.

Schools across the county took part in various activities on the day revolving around reading and sharing stories.

Rydal Penrhos was just one of the schools to get involved with World Book Day with staff devising a schedule of initiatives.

Alison Hind, Rydal's headteacher, said: “We are always thrilled to get behind and support World Book Day, which is a fantastic initiative and highlights the importance that reading can have on a child’s overall development.

“Reading improves vocabulary, spelling and also heighten their respective imaginations, and it was heart-warming to see each year group really getting into the spirit of the occasion and producing some outstanding work in the process.”
