Deganwy has received a Public Access Defibrillator which has been installed in the centre of the village near the Pelican crossing.

The defibrillator is housed in a yellow cabinet, so it is easy to identify.

Both items were donated using funds raised by the Deganwy and District Residents Association (DDRA) in conjunction with a grant from the British Heart Foundation.

Public Access Defibrillators (PAD) are becoming a common sight around Conwy and throughout Wales and the UK, because early access to these simple to use devices is proven to save lives.

Free training in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and familiarisation with the PAD is being provide by Tomos Hughes, Community Defibrillator Coordinator for Wales.

Working in conjunction with the charity SADS UK (Sudden Adult Death Syndrome), Mr Hughes has recently been awarded a medal in the New Year’s Honors list for his work installing, maintaining and managing these devices in Wales.

Free training has been organised in Deganwy so that residents can familiarise themselves with a defibrillator and to teach the basic life support skills called Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Sessions will be held on Thursday, March 28, at 4.30 pm at Prohibition on Station Road; and Thursday, April 4, at 7pm at the Conwy Yacht Club, on Station Road.

All are welcome to attend either event and learn how to save a life.
