A new Co-Operative store is set to open in Rhos-on-Sea in September.

Work is underway to construct the new convenient chain store on the former United Reformed church hall on the corner of Colwyn and Penrhyn Avenue.

The store, which is set to provide between 15-20 jobs in the area, is expected to be opened by September.

A Co-op spokesperson said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to make a further significant investment in North Wales in order to develop a new store to better serve the Rhos-on-Sea community.”

Planning permission for the new store was given last year and work on the site begun earlier this month.

The new Co-Op store will have a focus on fresh and healthy produce as well as Welsh produce – including beer, dairy, lamb and beef.

Students in Rhos-on-Sea, holding a NUS extra or TOTUM cards, will receive a 10 per cent discount off groceries.

The spokesperson said the new store would enable them to better service the community.
