GUTO Bebb, MP for Aberconwy, has outlined his views of the current Brexit controversy.
This follows the revelation by the Pioneer the former president of his constituency association, Graham Dale, plans to stand as an Independent candidate in the next election.
Mr Dale had expressed annoyance at what he said was Mr Bebb working actively to frustrate the Brexit referendum result.
Mr Bebb said: “Brexit is the most divisive issue to have impacted our politics for a generation.
“It is not the case that the leave campaign or the Conservative manifesto promised a no deal outcome, and I am confident that in opposing such a damaging outcome I'm working in the best interests of my constituents and North Wales.”
Mr Bebb had supported remain in the 2016 referendum, although he acknowledged the EU was not perfect. He argued there was no simple way to reverse 40 years of membership of the most complex, and from an economic perspective, successful political project yet constructed.
