RUNNERS turned up in their numbers to take part in the annual Llandudno Easter 5k Dash over the weekend.

On Saturday, the race, which is now firmly established as a favourite on the local running calendar, saw participants set off from the promenade.

The hot weather added to the challenge of completing the course but allowed for the route's stunning scenery to be on full display, with some great views to be seen from the promenade and beyond.

Participants headed out towards the Great Orme and back past the start and finish towards the Little Orme.

Philip Wilson of the Tipton Harriers was the fastest Senior male across the finish line, completing the course in just 15mins 56secs.

The quickest Junior male was Cai Morgan Roberts of Menai Track and Field with a time of 17mins 1sec.

Emily Japp of Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde Athletics Club was the quickest senior female to finish with a time of 17mins 58secs. Eden O'Dea (no club) was the fastest junior female, crossing the finish line in 19mins 25secs.

The 5k Dash also saw veteran runners compete in over 40, 50 and 60's categories - so it provided a bit of friendly competition for people of all ages.

As always, there were Easter eggs and other seasonal goodies on offer at the event, plus a medal waiting for runners at the finish line.

The race's route uses an accurately measured fast and flat out and back course along the Llandudno Promenade.

It is deemed suitable for experienced runners and beginners alike; for the more experienced, it's a good chance to record a PB, and for beginners it's a nice, flat introduction to 5km races.

The event also includes a short children’s race for the young aspiring athletes.

The Llandudno Easter 5k Dash also supported the Little Orme Lions Club, who had been fundraising on the Promenade on the day.

'Real Buzz' also donated a goodie bag and discount voucher for all finishers along with prizes for winners.

Speaking following the event, a spokesperson for organising group Nice Work said: "Congratulations to all those who took part in the 5k dash in Llandudno, it was a great turnout and everyone did well to power through the testing conditions.

"We hope they will all join us once again during next Easter's event in 2020."
