THERE will be magic in the air and a focus on free entertainment when Llandudno's Victorian Extravaganza returns to the town this weekend.

With The Greatest Showman still creating a buzz, organisers will be delivering a free family circus at this year's event. Just like the early traditional Victorian Circus, the show will be hosted under a mini top and will feature aerial hoop, a ring master on stilts, chair balancing, juggling and more. Visitors will have a chance to sharpen their circus skills and can try their hand at juggling, plate spinning, flower sticks and diablo during a work shop.

The circus will be located at the back of Holy Trinity Church on Trinity Square. Shows will run between Saturday and Monday at 10.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm.

Also on the line up is the usual parades - happening daily - featuring traction engines, vintage vehicles, Victorian dressed and entertainers. There will also be Mr French Victorian School, modern and vintage fairground rides, stalls and exhibits.

Chris Williams, chairman of the committee for the Extravaganza, said: "We have worked really hard towards our aim which is to provide more free entertainment. The circus is something different for us. We have got a whole variety of acts such as Professor Jons Flea Circus and Lady Vee Balloon show. Mario Morris will be performing his famous cups and balls act and we have roving street magician Alex Fisher.

"There will be a magic theme running throughout the weekend.

"Llandudno Town Band is returning to the event and we have got Cambria band as well.

"We do always say it is going to be bigger and better, but we have really upped it this year.

"We have got Victorian rides such as the 'Cake Walk' Victorian Fairground Ride and the Electric Yachts.

"There will be something for everyone."

Speaking about his feelings ahead of the event, Chris said it was hard to quantify.

"We have a small committee and we are working on this all the time, every spare minute," he said.

"In years gone by I've been stressed by this point but I feel quite calm. I'm looking forward to seeing it all come together."

The Llandudno's Victorian Extravaganza will run on May 4, 5 and 6. Visit www.victorian-extravaganza.com for full details about what is on and to see the event map and programme.
