MORE than 100 enthusiastic young windsurfers flocked to Porth Eirias to showcase their skills and prowess on the water.
The BUCS/Student Windsurfing Association Nationals are classed as one of the highlights in the student sporting calendar. The competition is considered a "coup" for the town after organisers moved the event from the former Olympic sailing site in Weymouth to Porth Eirias earlier this year.
“We were delighted to host the Nationals this year and the fact that Porth Eirias can hold its own as a competition class venue, makes us all very proud”, said Taffy Osborne managing director of Colwyn Bay Watersports.
“We’ve also become the place that most universities are coming to if they want to turn their windsurfers into Instructors or Club Presidents”.
The event was held between Friday, April 27 and Sunday, April 29.
Congratulations were expressed to all who took part and those who took home medals and prizes
Racing was split into advanced, intermediate, beginner, freestyling and team racing categories allowed student at all levels to take part and enjoy the competition.
Those who took part competed for BUCS points on the Student Union sport league table which measures sporting success in universities across the country
