THE HEADTEACHER of a Llandudno-based school has paid tribute to one of its pupils who died over the weekend.

Dillan Brown had been rescued from the water at Pigeon's Cove, on the Great Orme at about 9.20pm on Saturday. He was airlifted to hospital but later died.

The 13-year-old was from Llandudno and was a pupil at Ysgol John Bright school.

Today, Headteacher Ann Webb has paid tribute to the teenager, praising his "warm, cheerful and loving nature".

"All of the pupils and staff were devastated to learn of Dillan’s tragic death and our hearts go out to his immediate and extended family at this most difficult of times," she said.

“Dillan was a much-loved member of the close-knit Ysgol John Bright community and had a very warm, cheerful and loving nature.

"He had a heart of gold and was a very caring and thoughtful son, brother and uncle. It was very evident how important his family was to Dillan and how much he loved them.

"We have made arrangements to be on hand to provide additional pastoral support and comfort to Dillan’s fellow pupils who are naturally shocked and distressed by what has happened."

North Wales Police said there were not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding Dillan's death. He is believed to have been with a friend at the time when he fell and hit his head.
