A GROUP of pupils from a Llandudno school experienced living history when they met Normandy veterans at the Blind Veterans’ centre.
The 52 youngsters, aged 10 and 11, from Ysgol Craig-y-Don, met the 20 veterans who were staying at the centre for the Normandy commemorations.
The children were able to speak to the veterans and learn of their experiences and exploits.
Elaine Gelling, Ysgol Craig-y-Don’s deputy head, said: “This and been a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn more about World War Two first hand, from those who were there and gain an understanding of what it was like. This was living history for them.
A programme of events has been arranged for the veterans who come from all over the UK, including a visit to RAF Valley and a commemorative parade of their own at the War memorial in Llandudno.
